Update - New Walls Puzzle 2


I was no longer satisfied with the walls I had before. They all looked the same, which made playing through the levels feel repetitive and even tiresome. In addition, the textures were too flat and did not convey the sense of detail I wanted to convey.

To solve this, I decided to create different wall sets for each area. This way, each space has its own identity, with different shapes, colours, and patterns, preventing the player from seeing the same thing over and over again.


First, I built a base wall with all the decorations I wanted to use in that area. From that wall, I made variations of different lengths depending on what each level needed.


In Substance, I prepared a base smart material that I then applied to all the pieces in that same area, so that there would be no weird breaks in the textures.



Finally, my colleague Mai implemented them into Unity so that they would have their shader and remain within the prefabs of the walls of puzzle 2.

The change is very noticeable. It is no longer that same old wall repeated ad nauseam; now each place feels unique and helps give the player a fresher experience as they progress.
